Ashgabat, 4 June 2011 (nCa) — Turkmenistan will use a Chinese grant to buy Lenovo computers from China.
The grant is worth Chinese Yuan 50 million (about US $ 7.5 million at one USD = 6.66332 CNY).
A presidential decree issued Friday says that the State Bank for Foreign Economic Relations (VneshEkonomBank) of Turkmenistan will sign agreement with the China Development Bank for transfer and management of the grant.
The computers purchased from the grant would be supplied to the students in Turkmenistan.
Lenovo (IBM) signed an information technology strategic framework agreement with Turkmenistan in December 2009.
Under the agreement, Lenovo is providing information technology and information solutions to several sectors in Turkmenistan including education, technology, healthcare, travel, business and government administration.
Turkmenistan is the first foreign government to sign such an agreement with Lenovo.
