Ashgabat, 20 April 2012 (nCa) — There can be no peace in Afghanistan until total pullout of the US and NATO forces, said Ambassador Mohsen Pakaein, the Iranian chief diplomat on Afghan affairs.
In a conversation Wednesday with Pakaein, nCa asked as to what could be the most practical way to bring peace to Afghanistan. He said, “The best idea would be the complete pullout. When I say complete pullout, I mean the military bases of the United States should be closed down in Afghanistan.”
“The only presence [of foreign forces] in Afghanistan should be for training and non-military purposes. — This is the best way,” he added.
Pakaein stressed, “The international community should understand that after ten years [of war] we cannot see any sign of security in Afghanistan; instead we see the increase in the acts of terrorism, human trafficking, poverty and insecurity.”
“This is because of negative perceptions,” he concluded.
