Two checkpoints, closed since 2020, have been reopened on the Turkmen-Uzbek border on 26 November, reported the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.
Contactless cargo transportation for international road transport with Turkmenistan has been resumed at the Khujaili – Kunya-Urgench and Shavat-Dashoguz checkpoints.
Transportation is carried out in strict accordance with sanitary and epidemiological measures in cooperation with Turkmen relevant ministries and departments.
The reopening took place in line with outcomes of the meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen working group on transport and logistics issues, held a week ago. The parties agreed to test contactless replacement of trailers and semi-trailers for international cargo transportation in the neutral.
Until now only the Alat checkpoint has functioned due to pandemic restrictions. /// nCa, 29 November 2021
