On Wednesday, 18 May 2022, Arkadag Berdimuhamedov visited the Scientific and Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health in Ashgabat.
He was accompanied by the minister of health and medical industry, who informed about the medical services provided to children with congenital heart defects, including preoperative preparation and their recovery in the post-surgery period.
Arkadag also visited the Department of therapy of diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
Currently, 220 children in Turkmenistan need heart surgery and 100 children with pathologies of the musculoskeletal system need medical care.
Then the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty talked with the young patients in the preoperative department and their parents.
Arkadag Berdimuhamedov promised that the Charity Fund for helping children in need will allocate US $400,000 dollars of aid for the kids treatment at the Center.
The Scientific and Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health was opened in 2015 and is designed for 670 beds. It includes 28 departments such as consultative diagnostic, operating departments, scientific and clinical laboratory, departments of inpatient diagnostics, child development, early diagnosis, scientific and clinical departments of pediatric hematology, pediatric internal diseases, etc.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed with the minister of health and medical industry issues of early development of children, protection and prevention of their health.
Issues related to the prevention of viral diseases, including coronavirus, and, taking into account the upcoming summer vacation season, the preparation of health resorts, and especially the National Tourist Zone Avaza, were touched upon.
The minister reported on the plans to send 150 doctors of various specializations to leading clinics in Germany to improve their qualification, exchange experience and continue cooperation with the German “Service of Experienced Specialists”.
Amannepesov reported on project to build an additional 400-bed building at the Archman sanatorium. He also informed that a multidisciplinary and oncological clinic in Dashoguz for 450 and 150 beds, respectively, are ready for commissioning. ///nCa, 19 May
