On May 23-27, a delegation headed by the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Mr.Serdarov is visiting Bangkok to participate in the 78th session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The current session of the Commission will be held under the theme “A common agenda to advance sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific “.
The theme study for the 78th Commission session describes pathways to achieve more inclusive and sustainable post-pandemic recovery. It identifies elements for a common agenda for present and future generations centred on protecting people and the planet, leveraging digital opportunities, trading and investing more together, raising financial resources and managing debt. It underlines the need to listen and work with young people, placing women at the centre for crisis-prepared policy action and new people-centric partnerships, with the readiness of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to serve.
ESCAP will be commemorating the seventy-fifth anniversary of its establishment in 2022, and the seventy-eighth session will mark the culmination of the commemorations. As the Commission approaches this landmark milestone, it is poised to engage in dialogue on the future of regional cooperation to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and deliver on its promise of leaving no one behind. As countries stand at a crossroads where building back better is within reach, the Commission will also offer a space to identify and discuss the mechanisms and means to build the resilience of people and nations in Asia and the Pacific in the aftermath of COVID-19. ///MFA Turkmenistan, 23 May
