On Friday, 27 May 2022, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov led the ceremony of opening two new medical facilities in Dashoguz – multidisciplinary and oncological hospitals.
Both hospitals have created 1,331 jobs. The staff who will work in these clinics have trained at the State Medical University of Turkmenistan, as well as in advanced clinics in Turkey and Russia.
“We will pay special attention to popularizing the principles of a healthy lifestyle in society, prevention and effective treatment of diseases,” the President said at the opening ceremony, noting that significant funds will continue to be allocated for the introduction of advanced technologies and best practices into the healthcare system.
President gifted specialized vehicles to new hospitals.
Dashoguz Multidisciplinary Hospital
Dashoguz provincial multidisciplinary hospital is designed for 450 beds.
The hospital is equipped with high-tech equipment from leading manufacturers from Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the USA, Netherlands, Denmark, Great Britain.
It consists of 7 buildings of a four-storey complex. There are 32 functional departments. They include consulting and diagnostic, physiotherapy, endoscopic, stroke, infarction, nephrological, neurosurgical, rheumocardiological, ENT departments, as well as departments of arterial hypertension, general cardiology, pulmonology and allergology, endocrinology, radiation diagnostics, anesthesiology and intensive care, toxicology and hemodialysis, traumatology and orthopedics, etc.
The hospital accommodates four surgical departments – general surgery, purulent and burn surgery, endocrine surgery, as well as thoracic and endovascular surgery.
The head of state toured several departments. So, in the department of anesthesiology and intensive care, the doctor of the department demonstrated a multifunctional bed. Its peculiarity is mattress with a warming effect, which, by carrying out wave–like movements, prevent the appearance of bedsores and allow the rapid healing of wounds.
It is noteworthy that most of the hospital’s medical equipment allows patients to be treated with less invasive procedures. For example, a Swiss-made remote lithotripter designed for crushing kidney stones is installed in the lithotripsy room.
Laser surgery equipment is intended for surgical treatment of ophthalmic patients, which allows performing microsurgical operations.
The hospital has a large laboratory equipped with the advanced technology.
The automated biochemical analyzer “HumaStar 200” from the German manufacturer “Human” makes it possible to determine the content of all enzymes, electrolytes, proteins, cholesterol and its fractions, glucose and glycolized hemoglobin in the blood.
The automated coagulometer “HumaClot Pro” helps to diagnose rapid and slow blood clotting at an early stage, as well as correctly prescribe medical treatment of the disease.
A fully automated PCR machine has been installed to perform genetic and molecular biological analyses. The main feature of the device is the detection of chained RNA and DNA viruses.
The Dashoguz Multidisciplinary Hospital is also featured with the equipment that is not yet available in any medical institution in Turkmenistan.
For the first time in Turkmenistan, an ultra-modern gel-free magnetic resonance tomograph “Ingenia Ambition 1.5T” has been installed in the department of radiation diagnostics.
The device has a number of peculiarities, one of which is the ability to see the smallest images. For example, MRI defines changes in the tissues of the brain and spinal cord, checks the blood supply to internal organs, their condition, and the conductivity of nerve fibers.
The device is capable of conducting fast check-up of children and patients in critical condition. The bed of the device is much larger in size, which allows for a full-fledged testing of overweight patients and patients who are prone to claustrophobia.
There are also high-speed computed tomographs “Ingenuity CT” and “Incisive CT”, which allow to detect brain tumors, circulatory disorders, etc. at an early stage.
Moreover, the services provided at the multidisciplinary hospital of Dashoguz fully takes into account the possible needs of the population due to the adverse effect of natural factors.
The densitometry cabinet enables monitoring of the mineral density of bone tissue, the decrease of which indicates the presence of osteoporosis. The ultramodern device provides invaluable assistance in the prevention and diagnosis at an early stage of diseases caused by a decrease in bone density due to the negative impact of the Aral Sea.
The multidisciplinary hospital has its own blood bank available also for all medical institutions of the province. In total, 6 blood collection points have been created in the bank. Blood sampling devices, devices for separating leukocytes, red blood cells and plasma from blood are installed in this department.
Cancer Hospital
The oncology hospital is a 3-storey building designed for 150 beds. The complex covers an area of 59 thousand square meters.
The hospital fully corresponds to its high status, having all the necessary services and equipment that allow for surgical treatment, as well as chemical and complex therapy.
The hospital accommodates nine departments including consultative and diagnostic, endoscopic, general oncological, hematological, as well as departments of anesthesiology and intensive care, radiology, chemotherapy, palliative care and a laboratory.
The laboratories of the hospital are equipped with various equipment from European, Japanese and American manufacturers.
For example, a complex of devices “Ventana Immunogistohimia” of the Swiss company “Roche Diagnostics” for histochemical analysis of neoplasm cells by staining them. The immunohistochemical analysis helps to choose the optimal treatment methods.
The laboratory is equipped with a semi-automatic biochemical analyzer of the German company “Human”. With the help of this device, all enzymes, electrolytes, protein, cholesterol and its fractions, glucose, glycolized hemoglobin and other biochemical parameters of the blood are tested.
The Humastar 200 analyzer determines specific blood proteins, as well as the effectiveness of antibacterial therapy.
The computed tomography room has a CT scan from “Philips” (Netherlands), which has several features, such as the determination of small foci in brain diseases, changes in brain tissue, signs of decreased blood circulation, foci of inflammation, complex vascular diseases, a clearer definition of benign and malignant neoplasms.
The device is also able to detect diseases of internal organs by injecting contrast agents into the veins.
A simulation device from Philips (Kingdom of the Netherlands) has been installed in the radiology department, which has no analogues not only in Turkmenistan, but also in the Central Asian region. It is designed to accurately diagnose the location of a new dangerous neoplasm before the prescription of radiation therapy.
There is also a device from the US manufacturer VARIAN, which enables to treat only diseased cells, protecting neighboring healthy ones.
To date, this is the most modern equipment in the treatment of malignant neoplasms, which has aroused great interest in the world health care due to its positive effect in a short time. Its main advantages are ease of operation, convenience and safety for the patient, as well as high-quality treatment with maximum time savings.
The endoscopic department is equipped with a complex for fibrogastroduadenoscopy from the famous Japanese company OLYMPUS, designed for endoscopic manipulations of the gastrointestinal tract.
This device makes it possible to detect the neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract in the early stages, their boundaries, places of narrowing, puncture various organs, take a biopsy, conduct local treatment with minimally invasive surgeries.
The clinic has an electronic system that allows to use the telemedicine.
New hospitals awarded with international certificates
Then the ceremony of awarding international quality certificates to new hospitals was held. The following certificates have been presented:
- “KTQ International GmbH” (Germany) – certificates confirm the compliance of multidisciplinary and oncological hospitals with international standards of services provided to patients, clinic management, safety, information and communication, clinical risk management, working conditions.
- Branch of Philips Medical Systems in Russia has certified that these are the most innovative clinics in Central Asia equipped with Philips products.
- Philips Medical Systems Company – international certificate “ISO 9001” confirming full compliance with the technical characteristics and provisions of the material and equipment
- International certificate ISO 14001, confirming that the equipment used and the construction works are safe for the environment. ///nCa, 28 May 2022, [photo source – TDH]
