On 17 November 2022, the specialists on automation of customs procedures of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan met with experts of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) via a videoconference.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan.
The parties discussed the project “Digitalization of the TIR procedure in the transport corridors of Central Asia to strengthen regional cooperation and trade”.
The project is being implemented on the initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in the period from September 2022 to December 2023.
During the meeting, representatives of the Customs service shared the current status of the implementation of the TIR EPD in Turkmenistan and existing initiatives in this area.
The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, in cooperation with the International Union of Road Transport (IRU), has implemented the TIR-EPD system, which provides online preliminary information on goods and vehicles entering and training via Turkmenistan.
The TIR-EPD system allows freight companies to declare goods and vehicles to customs authorities without the services of customs brokers during import and transit through the customs territory of Turkmenistan. ///nCa, 18 November 2022
