The possibilities of opening a Trading house of Turkmenistan in Baku and a Trading house of Azerbaijan in Ashgabat, including the creation of a Turkmen-Azerbaijani Business Council, were considered during the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission for Economic Cooperation in Baku.
The meeting of the Commission was headed by DPM Batyr Atdayev from the Turkmen side, and Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov from the Azerbaijani side.
The parties noted that the volume of trade turnover in January-October 2022 increased by more than 6.5 times year-on-year.
Moreover, there are considerable opportunities to further increase the trade, since both countries’ enormous potential in energy, transportation, transit, and other areas provides a solid foundation for future ties.
Among the topics covered are cooperation in shipbuilding and ship repair, as well as other sectors.
At the end of the meeting, the Co-Chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission signed a Protocol that provides for strengthening cooperation in trade, economic, energy, transport, agricultural and food security, in the field of urban planning and architecture, as well as in other areas.
The parties agreed to hold the seventh meeting of the joint commission in 2023 in Ashgabat. ///nCa, 1 December 2022
