Turkmenistan is interested in deepening ties with the UAE and enriching them with new content. This was stated by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a meeting with the UAE delegation headed by Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies Sultan Al Jaber on Friday, 9 December.
The UAE is one of Turkmenistan’s key trade and economic partners, the Turkmen leader said.
Among the significant areas of cooperation are the fuel and energy sector, the chemical industry, the transport and communication sphere and the financial and banking system.
Stressing that fostering of the legal framework of economic ties is among the priorities, the president emphasized the expediency of preparing bilateral documents aimed at expanding the Turkmen-Emirati dialogue, encouraging investment activities.
The Emirati delegation confirmed the desire of the UAE business community for a long-term partnership with Turkmenistan and participation in new promising projects.
Noting the enormous economic potential and investment attractiveness of Turkmenistan, the members of the delegation stressed the special role of the Joint Cooperation Committee.
The Committee’s activities are designed to stimulate cooperation in trade and economic, oil and gas, energy, agriculture, transport and communication and other key industries. This is also facilitated by the availability in Turkmenistan of all conditions for business, including legislative support, political and social stability, rapid industrial growth.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that traditional bilateral cooperation will be strengthened and expanded on a mutually beneficial long-term basis, with new concrete content added.

The same day the UAE delegation also held meetings with the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in charge of the oil and gas sector, construction, electric power, road construction, chemical industry and financial and economic complex.
As noted, the comprehensive modernization and diversification of all segments of the national economy implemented by Turkmenistan provides for the attraction of digital technologies, advanced developments and innovations in the industry, the introduction of experience in the use of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources, in particular, solar and wind.
With the implementation of large-scale development programs in the country, opportunities for Turkmen-Emirati cooperation, including investment activities, emerge.
