On Monday, 12 June, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador of South Korea to Turkmenistan Ji Kyu-taek, who presented credentials to the head of state.
During the meeting, the dynamic nature of interstate partnership was emphasized both in the bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations, primarily the United Nations. The similarity or proximity of the countries’ viewpoints on issues connected to the maintenance of universal peace and sustainable development, as well as other essential parts of the global agenda, serves as the foundation for effective international interaction coordination.
It was noted that the productive contacts within the framework of the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum are an example of a successful dialogue in a multilateral format.
In recent years, the inter-parliamentary partnership has also intensified, complementing the multifaceted Turkmen-Korean relations.
Korea is one of the key economic partners of Turkmenistan. For many years, the largest Korean companies have been involved in the implementation of various projects in the gas industry and the chemical industry. Cars and specialized machinery manufactured by Korea are also widely used in Turkmenistan.
It was emphasized that the reforms and large-scale programs implemented in Turkmenistan provide great opportunities for further progressing of the mutually beneficial Turkmen-Korean trade and economic partnership.
At the same time, cultural and humanitarian dialogue plays an important role in the development of interstate relations, including cooperation in education and culture, sports, tourism and healthcare.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Ji Kyu-taek assured that he would do his best to fulfill the responsible mission entrusted to him, contributing in every way to strengthening Turkmen-Korean cooperation. ///nCa, 13 June 2023
