Today, by the decree of the President of Turkmenistan, National Action Plan for the Realization of Children’s Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028 has been approved. The new Plan has been prepared based on the national priorities set in the Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country in 2022-2028, and on the key recommendations and best practices drawn from the evaluation of the previous National Action Plan.
In 2022, UNICEF together with the Institute of State, Law and Democracy completed several rounds of consultations and discussions with multiple partners and entities across the country. As the result of this complex joint work, the new plan has been developed and now approved for further implementation. The new plan includes the important priorities such as rights to health, nutrition, clean water, education, safe environment, protection from violence, children’s rights to participate in decision-making that affects their lives, well-being and development and others.
Through the development and implementation of The Second National plan on Children’s rights, Turkmenistan reconfirms its commitment to implementation of its obligations towards protection of rights of children and in ensuring the sustainability of the results achieved for children and their further expansion.
UNICEF is proud to have been a part of this important work and stands ready to support the Government of Turkmenistan and other partners in implementation of this Plan to ensure every child in Turkmenistan can enjoy their rights. ///UNICEF Turkmenistan, 22 June 2023
