Uzbek Railways announced the launch of container trains from the Chinese port of Xiamen to Uzbekistan via Iran and Turkmenistan.
39 40-foot containers with household appliances (refrigerator, washing machine, gas stoves) went by sea from the Chinese port of Xiamen to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
Xiamen Port is one of the largest ports in China on the coast of the Taiwan Strait.
Then the cargo was loaded onto railway platforms and proceeded from Iran through Turkmenistan to the Uzbekistan’s Sergeli station in Tashkent. The travel time from the port of Bandar Abbas to Tashkent is two weeks.
Recently, a test freight train also travelled from China to Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan. The multimodal corridor China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan connects the city of Lanzhou in the central province of China Gansu with Tashkent.
A freight train transported solar panels, mechanical equipment, fabrics and other goods worth US $2.5 million. ///nCa, 26 June 2023
