Addressing at online SCO Summit on 4 July 2023, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov noted the importance of the establishment of the SCO Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek.
According to the Head of Kyrgyzstan, the implementation of this initiative will give a tangible impetus to increasing cooperation on issues related to ensuring regional security, combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and cross-border organized crime.
Speaking about security issues, Zhaparov urged to keep attention on the Afghan issues. “For Kyrgyzstan, as well as for our friends, peace and stability in Afghanistan is one of the priority conditions for ensuring regional security. The Kyrgyz Republic is ready to develop good-neighborly relations and is interested in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. At the same time, noting its commitment to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz Republic respects the right of the Afghan people to determine the future of their country based on their historical experience, culture, traditions and national identity,” he said.
Raising issues of economic cooperation and connectivity, Zhaparov called his counterparts for continuing efforts on improving the quality of transportation by all modes of transport in the SCO space.
The head of Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing the importance of intensifying economic cooperation, expressed regret for the long delay in tackling the task of establishing effective financial mechanisms through the setting up of the Development Bank and the SCO Development Fund, as well as the transition to settlements in national currency, which has already acquired high priority in modern conditions.
The President also noted the need to create a dialogue platform to discuss problems and prospects for the development of trade and economic cooperation through the use of e-commerce, e-customs and e-logistics, as well as digital transport corridors.///nCa, 5 July 2023
