The Galkynysh gas field, the largest field in Turkmenistan, has received a high-pressure industrial inflow of natural gas, the newspaper of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan “Nebit-gas” reports.
According to the estimates of specialists from the State Concern “Turkmengaz”, the well is flowing at a rate of 2.26 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
The inflow was the result of successful drilling and blasting operations at a depth of 4496 to 4214 meters, with a total length of 189 meters. The well is located at a depth of 4,557 meters.
During the drilling and construction of the gas well, saddle and pump-compressor pipes, fountain fittings, and column heads from the well-known Japanese company Sumitomo were widely used. The equipment was selected for their compatibility with the geological and technological characteristics of the Galkynysh gas field.
The Galkynysh and Yashlar gas fields together have reserves of 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas. Taking into account the hydrocarbon resources recently discovered at the Garakel field, the total reserves are estimated to be 27.4 trillion cubic meters.
The productivity of each of the gas wells commissioned at this field is about 2 million cubic meters of gas per day. This indicates the huge reserves of natural gas from the Galkynysh field.
In total, 7 phases of development of the Galkynysh field are envisaged. Currently, the first stage is underway. Experts suggest that the deposit will be in development for 100 years.///nCa, 13 September 2023
