Before the start of the Summit of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Dushanbe on 14 September 2023, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
During the conversation, the parties expressed confidence that the results of the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the next meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea will contribute to the expansion of effective cooperation between the countries of the region.
At the same time, it was noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and trust, based on long-standing traditions of friendship and good neighborliness. The countries successfully coordinate their actions in the international arena, within the framework of reputable international organizations, as well as in a multilateral format.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, including increasing the volume of trade turnover and cultural and humanitarian ties.
In order to develop trade and economic ties, it was considered necessary to intensify the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. ///nCa, 15 September 2023
