Oil refineries of Turkmenistan and China are potential suppliers of petroleum products to Kazakhstan, country’s Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said on the sidelines of the XV Eurasian Kazenergy Forum on 4 October 2023, according to Forbes Kazakhstan.
Satkaliev told that according to the rules related to the import of petroleum products to the territory of the Eurasian Union, refineries that supply petroleum products to the territory of the EAEU must be certified in accordance with the requirements of the Eurasian Commission.
“As far as I know, some plants have expressed their intentions to be certified. Among the potential suppliers of petroleum products to the territory of the Eurasian Union, we see oil refineries of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China. This process is going on in a working order,” Satkaliyev explained.
On the same day, the Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov told reporters that Kazakhstan can import aviation fuel from Turkmenistan, Kazinform reports.
Now, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan is waiting for the conclusion of the laboratory, which tested the corresponding volumes of jet fuel. Then a decision will be made on whether aviation fuel will be imported to Kazakhstan from Turkmenistan.
“[Turkmenistan] has processing facilities. They generally export their products through the Caspian Sea. At the beginning of this year, we considered the option of testing aviation fuel produced in Turkmenistan. For this purpose, the corresponding volumes of aviation kerosene were imported. It was sent directly to the laboratory. We are waiting for the conclusion of this laboratory,” Akkenzhenov commented. ///nCa, 5 October 2023
