On November 1, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubayev, held negotiations on the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Central Asia-Korea Cooperation Forum.
The ministers discussed priority areas of Turkmen-Kyrgyz cooperation and prospects for further collaboration on a wide range of bilateral issues. They noted the steady and effective development of bilateral cooperation, based on respectful dialogue between the heads of the two states.
The ministers analyzed the active interaction of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan in international and regional organizations, primarily the UN. They stressed the relevance and importance of cooperation within the framework of the Central Asia + dialogue. In this regard, Meredov expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for supporting significant international initiatives and proposals put forward by Turkmenistan on multilateral platforms.
The diplomats confirmed the existence of broad opportunities in the trade and economic sphere and noted the growth of bilateral trade turnover. They also paid attention to issues of cooperation in the field of electric power, the gas industry, transport and logistics, and investment.
In the context of the development of cultural and humanitarian ties, the ministers noted the potential in the field of education, science, and cultural exchanges. They also discussed the schedule of upcoming meetings and events at various levels.///nCa, 2 November 2023
