On 6 November 2023, the 10th interregional meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO of the member countries of this organization was held in Paris at the UNESCO headquarters. The Turkmen side was represented by Ms. Chinar Rustamova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, reports the Embassy of Turkmenistan in France.
The meeting, which was held within the framework of the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference, was attended by Deputy Directors General of this international organization, heads of relevant UNESCO departments, representatives at the level of responsible secretaries of national commissions for UNESCO.
At the plenary session of the meeting, the First Deputy Director General of UNESCO, Mr. Xing Qu, the Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations Mr. Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah, as well as the Director of the UNESCO Strategic Planning Bureau, Ms. Zazie Shäfer, and others made presentations.
The meeting paid special attention to the discussion of important issues, including consideration of reports, analysis of bilateral and multilateral initiatives, as well as issues of improving the practice of interaction between regional structures and National Commissions of UNESCO.
The event demonstrated the determined desire of the National Commissions for UNESCO to contribute to the ongoing process of implementing the UNESCO Medium-term Strategy for 2022-2029 and the budget for 2026-2029, to provide a platform for exchanging views on the role of National Commissions in the implementation of the Organization’s programs and its strategic transformation. ///nCa, 7 November 2023
