On Monday, 15 January 2024, the Consul General of Turkmenistan, Mukhammetnur Ovezov, held a meeting with the Governor of Istanbul, Davut Gül. The discussion focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries in various areas, including trade, economy, education, culture, and humanitarian assistance.
A key topic of the meeting was the potential for establishing twinning relations between municipalities in Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
Ovezov highlighted the prospect of connecting Arkadag, Turkmenistan’s new smart city, with Istanbul.
The discussion also touched upon the important role of cultural events in sustaining the Turkmen community in Istanbul.
Governor Gül and Consul General Ovezov exchanged views on the importance of youth development. Ovezov highlighted Turkmenistan’s dedication to empowering young people.
He mentioned President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s book, “Youth is the pillar of the Motherland,” as a testament to this commitment.
