On 23 January 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who was on an official visit to Tokyo, met with State Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshifumi Tsuge.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister of State Tsuge expressed gratitude for the message of condolences received from the Government of Turkmenistan in connection with the earthquake on the Noto Peninsula.
He also stated that Turkmenistan is also located in an area where there is active seismic activity. In this regard, he expressed hope for promoting cooperation between the two countries in the field of disaster prevention.
In turn, Foreign Minister Meredov expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for cooperation in a wide range of areas, noting that during the visit the parties had a meaningful exchange of views on cooperation and coordination of the organization of the Central Asia + Japan summit.
The sides exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including economic relations and other issues of bilateral cooperation.
