The Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan free trade zone will be established in the Shavat district of the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan in accordance with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbek news outlets reported.
An infrastructure for storage, sorting, marketing, transportation of goods and other modern services will be created in the free trade zone “Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan” with an area of 3.1 hectares.
A “Single Window” center will streamline processes for businesses by providing access to customs, tax, certification, and other essential services. Additionally, the zone will operate under a “free customs zone” regime, allowing for retail activities.
Access to the territory of the zone will be carried out through separate checkpoints. Citizens of Turkmenistan, as well as foreigners visiting a neighboring country, will be able to stay in the zone without a visa for up to 15 days.
The zone will ensure the free movement of people, vehicles, and goods within its boundaries. Buildings and structures will be allocated to businesses through online auctions.
The Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan free trade zone is planned to operate for 30 years, with the option for further extension.
