The UNECE/UNICEF Expert Meeting on Statistics on Children, including the annual session of the UNICEF TransMONEE network, was held from 4 to 6 March 2024 in Geneva at the Palais des Nations.
Turkmenistan was represented by the Deputy Chairman of the State Statistics Committee and the head of the Population Department, as well as a UNICEF specialist in monitoring and evaluating the rights of the child, UNICEF in Turkmenistan reports.
Participants discussed data on children in a variety of information sources, ranging from population censuses, multi-cluster survey (MICS), administrative data, as well as innovative approaches to interacting with children to ensure that their opinions and voices are heard in policy planning.
The parties agreed that the next meeting will focus on children in alternative care and the adoption of a new classification of violence against children.
