The estimated reserves of domestic oil of Kazakhstan amount to 78 billion tons. This information was provided by the Chairman of the Geology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, Erlan Akbarov, while answering a question by the news service Kazinform.
He said that currently, the country has oil reserves equal to 4 billion 400 million tons. Of these, C1 category oil reserves subject to processing amount to 2 billion 900 million tons. These are the reserves of current subsoil users. In addition, there are oil fields where exploration is underway. Their volume has not yet been calculated, that is, there is no reason to believe that we will soon run out of oil.

He said further that under the Eurasia a project launched in 2022, the lower sediment layer of the Caspian Sea basin is being studied. The state has allocated money for this, and large-scale work is underway. Sedimentary rocks on the surface of the Caspian Sea reach a height of up to 25 km.
Scientific forecasts showed that reserves will reach about 1 trillion tons, he added.
