On 26 May 2024, in Geneva (Switzerland), on the sidelines of the 77th session of the World Health Assembly, Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadir Beishenaliyev held a meeting with Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Myrat Mammadov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. A key area of interest for Kyrgyzstan was the possibility of importing high-quality, cost-effective medicines produced at the joint Turkmen-Indian antibiotic plant. This could provide Kyrgyz patients with greater access to essential medications, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reports.
Also on the agenda was the issue of developing the production of medicinal clay extracted on the shores of the Caspian Sea in Kyrgyzstan. The Minister of Health of Turkmenistan shared experience of using medicinal clay in medical practice and offered to establish cooperation in this area.
The meeting further explored the possibility of supplying Kyrgyz hospitals with pharmaceuticals and medical equipment directly from Turkmen manufacturers. Turkmenistan provided information about its medical equipment and drug production companies, expressing their willingness to expand cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
Minister Beishenaliyev emphasized the importance of knowledge and technology sharing to improve healthcare systems in both nations. He expressed a keen interest in deepening the partnership with Turkmenistan.
At the end of the meeting, the ministers confirmed their intention to intensify work aimed at developing the pharmaceutical and medical industries, as well as improving the health of the population of the two countries. ///nCa, 28 May 2024
