Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who also heads the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation, held a videoconference with Hiroyuki Tsubai, Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee, on 6 June 2024, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further development of bilateral relations, where they noted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan, in particular, in the trade and economic sphere.
Discussions included new projects, exploring potential projects in oil and gas, chemicals, and agriculture.
Additionally, ensuring implementation of previously agreed-upon projects came under discussion.
The parties paid attention to the development of cooperation in the field of energy, the gas chemical industry, issues of carbon neutrality, and reducing methane emissions.
The sides emphasized the importance of high-level engagement, highlighting the positive impact of the visit by the National leader of Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan in September 2022.
The meeting also addressed preparations for 15th session of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen economic cooperation committees.
The preparations for the upcoming summit “Central Asia + Japan”, planned in Astana in August this year, were also discussed. ///nCa, 7 June 2024
