On 12 June 2024, Myakhri Byashimova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, met with John William Gearing, the newly appointed Australian Ambassador to Turkmenistan (with residence in Moscow). Ambassador Gearing presented copies of his credentials during the meeting.
Byashimova congratulated Ambassador Gearing and offered Turkmenistan’s support in his diplomatic endeavors.
The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations across various aspects. Both sides acknowledged the vast potential for cooperation in trade, economics, culture, and humanitarian fields.
They also highlighted the importance of collaborating within international organizations, particularly the United Nations.
The meeting concluded with an expression of confidence from both parties that relations between Turkmenistan and Australia will develop into a full-fledged partnership that serves mutual interests.

Separately, on the same day, Ambassador Gearing presented his credentials to Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
