On September 3rd, 2024, Mr. Rashid Meredov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan welcomed a delegation of TURKSOY headed by its Secretary General Sultan Raev in his office in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The agenda of the meeting which took place in the presence of Mrs. Lachin Ovazgeldiyeva, the Representative of Turkmenistan to TURKSOY and Mr. Salim Ezer, the Head of the Department of Communications and Informatics of TURKSOY pertained to projects to be implemented in cooperation of Turkmenistan with TURKSOY in the near future.
During the visit took place on the eve of very important events for the Turkic World, especially for Turkmenistan, large-scale events such as the Korkut Ata Film Festival of the Turkic World, the Theatre Festival of the Turkic World, Painters’ Gathering of TURKSOY and the Term Meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY, which will be taking place within the framework of the Year of Magtumguly Fragi 2024 declared on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his birthday upon joint decision of the ministers of culture of TURKSOY member countries.
In addition to these issues they discussed, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and members of the delegation of TURKSOY headed by Secretary General Raev made important decisions on various events planned to be carried out in the upcoming period within the scope events to be held in Anau, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2024.
Secretary General Raev: “We consider Turkmenistan as an integral part of TURKSOY and we are very pleased to see that our cooperation is deepening further everyday.”
In the statement he delivered at the press conference held after the meeting, Secretary General Raev said: ‘We declared the year 2024 as “Year of Magtumguly Fragi” throughout the Turkic World. Hence, we commemorated our illustrious poet Magtumguly Fragi with great respect and longing through various events of TURKSOY we carried out in different cities of the world as well as with new publications we issued to introduce his precious work and legacy to readers worldwide. We also held many special events in the city of Anau, which was declared as Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2024. The event we held in Turkmenistan within the framework of the opening ceremony of the “Year of Magtumguly Fragi” has left undelible traces in the minds of our art lovers. Today again, we are on the eve of important events we will be carrying out within the framework of this year. We had a very productive meeting with Minister Rashid Meredov who expressed his support as to activities of TURKSOY on every platform. As a matter of fact, he personally visited our Organisation last month and once again expressed the importance he attaches to our activities. With this visit we are paying to him today, we wanted to thank him for his precious support and exchange views with him on upcoming events. We strongly appreciate the support provided by Turkmenistan to our Organisation.
