A training seminar titled “Discover Malaysia Networking Seminar” was held in Ashgabat to foster tourism cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Malaysian Embassy, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
The seminar brought specialists from the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, as well as represeatives from about 40 travel companies of Turkmenistan, representatives of the Turkmen airlines “Turkmenhowaýollary” and “FlyDubai”, representatives of the Malaysian Tourism Office in Almaty (Kazakhstan) and the travel company “Aman Travel Land LLP”.
The Ambassador of Malaysia to Turkmenistan, Mohd Suhaimi Bin Ahmad Tajuddin, welcomed the attendees.
The Director of the Malaysian Tourism Office in Kazakhstan, Shazly Bin Azmi, highlighted Malaysia’s diverse tourism offerings at the seminar. The launch of direct flights between Ashgabat and Kuala Lumpur has significantly boosted tourism between the two countries. In fact, over 2,000 Turkmen tourists have already visited Kuala Lumpur through travel agencies since the start of 2024.
Currently, there are more than 150 travel companies operating in Turkmenistan. They actively collaborate with international partners, including Malaysia. More than 10 cooperation agreements have been signed between the two countries to facilitate mutual tourism.
Ravshan Ospanalieva, Tourism Manager at the Malaysian Embassy, presented information about Malaysia’s tourist regions, stunning beaches, vibrant cultural heritage, and advanced medical tourism facilities.
To further strengthen tourism cooperation, participants proposed organizing a familiarization trip for Turkmen travel agents to Malaysia. This initiative aims to attract more Malaysian tourists to Turkmenistan and vice versa, creating a mutually beneficial exchange. ///nCa, 13 November 2024
