Foreign economic relations in the air transport industry are carried out on the basis of international agreements concluded with foreign countries and on the basis of international conventions in the field of civil aviation, so the industry is a party to more than 50 various agreements with foreign countries and a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Council on the use airspace, as well as the Interstate Aviation Committee, interacts with the European Aviation Safety Agency (BAA).
The civil aviation of Turkmenistan, changing year after year at a rapid pace, successfully fulfills its own tasks to meet the various needs of the population of Turkmenistan, such as air transportation of passengers, baggage, cargo, mail, in the national economy of Turkmenistan, in medicine, in ensuring the movement of aircraft in the airspace of Turkmenistan.
Today, the Civil Aviation of Turkmenistan represents a multifunctional system: the international airports of Ashgabat, Turkmenbashi, Turkmenabad, Dashoguz, Mary, as well as the international airport of Kerki, which is capable of receiving all types of aircraft. In addition to the International Airports, the aviation personnel training school, the Medical Center, the Lachin Hotel Complex and the Turkmenistan Airlines Open Joint-Stock Company, as well as a number of other aviation organizations, are worthy of mention, providing a unified production and technological process for the safe performance of air transportation and aviation work and ensuring transit corridors of the airspace of Turkmenistan.

Ashgabat International Airport operates in all weather conditions. Runway: 3800 m x 60 m, magnetic take-off and landing heading 2950 – 1150, equipped with ornithological equipment and lighting equipment with a backup power supply. The airport has thirty-eight artificial taxiways; as well as an apron for 69 aircraft stands and 8 helicopter stands, the distance between parallel runways and taxiway is 190 m; capacity 17,000,000 passengers per year
- Characteristics of Turkmenbashi International Airport
Turkmenbashi International Airport operates in all weather conditions. Runway: 3500 m x 45 m (code F) magnetic take-off and landing heading 342° – 1620, equipped with ornithological equipment and lighting equipment with a backup power supply. The airport has four artificial taxiways, as well as an apron for 14 aircraft stands and 2 landing sites for helicopters;

Dashoguz International Airport operates in all weather conditions. Runway: 3800 m x 60 m (code F), magnetic takeoff and landing heading 264° – 084°, equipped with birdwatching equipment and lighting equipment with a backup power supply, meeting ICAO standards. There are five artificial taxiways, as well as an apron for 10 stops, the distance between parallel runways and the taxiway is 190 m.

Turkmenabat International Airport operates in all weather conditions. Runway: 3800 m x 60 m (code F) magnetic take-off and landing heading 305° – 125°, equipped with ornithological equipment and lighting equipment with a backup power supply. The airport has five artificial taxiways, as well as an apron for 8 aircraft stands and 4 helicopter stands, the distance between parallel runways and the taxiway is 190 m.

Mary International Airport operates in all weather conditions. Runway: 3800 m x 45 m (code E) magnetic take-off and landing heading 3550 – 175°, equipped with ornithological equipment and lighting equipment with a backup power supply, meeting ICAO standards.
