UN Special Representative meets heads of diplomatic missions of Central Asian states in Kabul
The UN Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ms. Roza Otunbaeva, had a meeting with the heads of Central Asian embassies in Kabul, reported AKIpress on 29 January 2023.
The ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan attended the meeting. It was organized by the embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Afghanistan.
The situation in Afghanistan and the regional cooperation were discussed.
Ms. Roza Otunbayeva of Kyrgyzstan was appointed as the as the new Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) on 2 September 2022 by the UN Secretary General, António Guterres.
She served as President of the Kyrgyz Republic (2010-2011) and on three occasions as Foreign Minister, most recently as Acting Minister in 2005. She was a Member of Parliament (2007-2010) and served as Deputy Prime Minister in 1991. /// nCa, 1 February 2023 [Picture credit AKIpress]
