Violent extremism is an affront to the purposes and principles of the UN. It undermines peace and security, human rights and sustainable development. No country or region is immune from its impacts.
On the Eve of the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE), 12 February, UNDP organized a seminar themed “STRENGTHENING THE RESILIENCE OF YOUTH THROUGH THE PROVISION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL” under the EU-funded programme. The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness and develop capacity of the teaching staff to strengthen the resilience of communities through the psychological support provided to vulnerable youth.
The meeting participants included faculty members and teaching staff of the International University of Humanities and Development (IUHD) of Turkmenistan, who discussed the role of social workers in providing community-based psychosocial services for vulnerable youth and stress management and community-based mental health support techniques to help youth in building resilience to PVE.
The workshop was held at the IUHD on 9-10 February 2023 by the national partners and trainers of the Turkmenistan Country Component of the Global Project on “Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism in Asia” (STRIVE Asia) A joint EU-UN partnership”, funded by the European Union (EU) with participation of the Ashgabat Advisory Group formed within the same project. ///UNDP Turkmenistan
