The Russian Geological Exploration Holding ‘Rosgeologiya’ (Rosgeo) will conduct seismic exploration of the Aral Sea bottom in Uzbekistan. This was announced by the company’s CEO Sergey Gorkov, writes UzDaily.
The contract for seismic exploration in the Aral Sea in Uzbekistan was signed at the end of March 2023. Its cost is 1.6 billion rubles (US $20.6 million).
In October 2022, the Russian news outlets, with reference to the Uzbek State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources, reported that Rosgeo jointly with Uzbek side had discovered 11 promising oil and gas areas on the territory of the drying Aral Sea.
Rosgeo concluded the first deal for performing geological exploration services in Uzbekistan in 2020.
Uzbekistan also adopted a program of geological study of the potential of the Aral zone and adjacent territories for hydrocarbon raw materials and Rosgeologia was appointed its contractor. ///nCa, 5 April 2023
