Vepa Hajiyev, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, will be visiting the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ) in New York to take part in the Third High-Level Counter-Terrorism Week (CT Week) from 19 to 20 June 2023, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN said in a press release.
The theme of the 3rd UN High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States will be “Addressing Terrorism through Reinvigorated Multilateralism and Institutional Cooperation”.
The Conference will provide a platform for Member States, United Nations entities, international and regional organizations, civil society organizations, and the private sector to exchange information, experiences, and good practices, as well as to explore further cooperation on key counter-terrorism priorities under the four pillars of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
The Conference will serve as an important check-in for the preparation of the New Agenda for Peace, proposed by the Secretary-General in his report on Our Common Agenda, and for the Africa Counter-Terrorism Summit to be held in Nigeria later this year or in early 2024.
Hajiyev’s presence at CT Week underscores Turkmenistan’s strong commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring regional and global security.
During his visit, Hajiyev will participate in high-level discussions, panel sessions, in order to share Turkmenistan’s perspective on counter-terrorism measures and exchange views with other participants.
He will also engage in bilateral meetings with the UN officials and international counterparts to strengthen partnerships and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation. ///nCa, 13 June 2023
