Yori Moerland, a student from Netherlands studying social geography at Utrecht University, had the opportunity to visit the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium and get acquainted with the rich culture of the country, the Embassy reported.
During his visit, the student youth representative was presented with various aspects of Turkmen culture, including carpets, paintings depicting national symbols of Turkmenistan, handmade crafts and national clothes.
He also had a chance to put on national Turkmen clothes himself.
The embassy staff also found time to discuss Turkmenistan’s foreign policy with Yori, which allowed him to better understand the country and its place in the world. As a person with a great interest in literature and culture, Yori is especially fascinated by Turkmen poetry and literature.
The Dutch student recited several verses from two of his favorite poems: “The Future of Turkmenistan” and “Today” by the great Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi. This is especially timely, as Turkmenistan is preparing to celebrate the Day of National Poetry of Magtymguly in the coming days.
Yori’s visit to the Embassy of Turkmenistan underlines the importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding between peoples.
We can broaden our horizons and understand the diversity of our world better by learning about the national characteristics of other nations.
It is encouraging to see that young people like Yori are actively interested in other cultures and are looking for opportunities to learn more. It is important to remember that we are all part of a larger global community.
In this context it is important to continue to support cultural exchange and celebrate the diversity that makes our world so rich and dynamic. And let’s hope that even more young people like Yori will be inspired to study the culture of Turkmenistan and expand their horizons. ///nCa, 20 June 2023
