In February-April 2023, Turkmenistan exported over 566.38 million kilowatt-hours of electric energy to Kyrgyzstan, or 41.7% of the country’s total electricity imports, KirTAG reports with reference to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
The total cost of supplies exceeded 1.48 billion Som an average of 2.62 Som (approx. US $3) per kilowatt-hour.
Over the four months of this year, Kyrgyzstan imported nearly 1.36 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from neighboring countries. This is 8% less than in the same period last year.
Kazakhstan is the leader in electricity supplies with 576.75 million kilowatt-hours, or 42.5% of the total supply volume.
The total cost of Kazakhstan’s electricity amounted to 1.5 billion som.
In January, electricity supplies from Turkmenistan stopped by Uzbekistan due to an acute shortage of energy in the country due to abnormal cold. Uzbekistan reimbursed the retained volume in March, exporting more than 145.6 million kilowatt-hours to Kyrgyzstan.
Since 15 April 2023, Kyrgyzstan has been buying electricity from Russia in transit through Kazakhstan. The average cost is 2 Som per kilowatt-hour. ///nCa, 23 June 2023
