The incumbent president of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has been reelected for a fresh term with 87.05% of cast votes.
The constitutional reforms introduced in April this year have increased the term of office of the president from 5 to 7 years. A president cannot serve for more than two consecutive terms under the amended constitution.
There were four candidates in the race. Of them, Ms. Robahon Mahmudova bagged 4.43% of votes, Ulugbek Inoyatov 4.02% of votes, and Abdshukur Hamzaev v 3.74% of votes.
According to the election commission of Uzbekistan, 15 million 651 thousand 405 voters, or 79.88% of the total voters, took part in the Uzbekistan Presidential Election.
