The prospects of cooperation between the Samara region of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan became the main topic of the visit of the Turkmen delegation headed by Consul General in Kazan Guich Garayev to Samara.
On 5 September, Garayev held a series of meetings in Samara, including with the head of the structural unit of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment of the Samara Region, the director of the Business Diplomacy Fund, Adviser to the Minister of Economic Development and Investment of the Samara Region, Chairman of the Committee for International Cooperation of the Samara regional branch of NGO “Delovaya Rossiya”, a representative of “The Club of exporters of the Samara region”, says the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan.
The delegation at the Exporters Club was briefed on the investment opportunities in the region, including the largest infrastructure project, the construction of a port and logistics hub, the Volga News portal says.
Samara companies are reportedly set to present their partnership potential to Turkmen business circles this autumn as part of an economic mission to Turkmenistan.
The business program of the visit is expected to include a presentation on the region’s potential in the fields of culture, science, and education.

Guich Garayev and Ashyraly Nazarov, Second Secretary of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan, visited Samara University.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of universities in the region, including Samara State Technical University, Samara State University of Economics, Volga Region State University of Telecommunications and Informatics, Samara State Socio-Pedagogical University, Samara State Institute of Culture.
During the conversation, the development of cooperation between the Samara region and Turkmenistan regarding the export of higher education was discussed.
According to Sergey Tic, head of the Department of International Activities of the university, there are great prospects for the development of network programs between Samara and Turkmen universities.
“These programs will allow us to send students to universities that have the necessary competencies and laboratory equipment. With the introduction of the Bologna System in Turkmenistan, it will be easier to align our bachelor’s degree programs”, he added.

The Consul General also met with students of Samara University from Turkmenistan. Currently, 82 students from Turkmenistan are studying at the university in the main educational programs. 11 entered the preparatory faculty. The most popular subject is International Relations.
From 2015 to 2020, the delegation of Samara University annually participated in educational exhibitions held by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan. During this period, meetings and negotiations were held with the Turkmen Space Agency under the President of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
On 2 October 2017, during the Turkmen-Russian Summit in Ashgabat, an agreement was signed with the Turkmen State Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics.
