On Wednesday, 1 November, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan received Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation, the deepening strategic partnership, the development of a sustainable political dialogue at the highest levels, and the effective interaction between the two countries both bilaterally and within international regional organizations such as the UN, OSCE, CIS, and ECO.
Minister Nurtleu conveyed to President Berdimuhamedov the best wishes and greetings from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Nurtleu briefed Berdimuhamedov on the current state and prospects for the development of Kazakh-Turkmen relations. He noted the positive dynamics of the growth of trade turnover, which increased by more than 70% by the end of 2022 to reach $440 million.
The sides identified the transport and logistics sector as one of the key vectors of cooperation, emphasizing that the geographical location of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan creates favorable conditions for the implementation of promising joint projects in this area. They also named the energy sector as one of the priority vectors of the partnership.
Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have fully completed the international legal registration of their state border. The parties expressed their mutual interest in further deepening Kazakh-Turkmen multifaceted cooperation in the spirit of friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness.
In this context, they paid special attention to strengthening interregional and cross-border cooperation, developing trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, and implementing joint projects in various fields. ///nCa, 2 November 2023
