On Wednesday, 1 November 2023, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Park Jin, according to TDH.
Minister Park conveyed greetings to the head of state from President Yun Seok-yeol of the Republic of Korea and stressed that Korea attaches great importance to strengthening the interstate dialogue based on the principles of mutual respect and constructive partnership.
President Berdimuhamedov thanked Minister Park for his kind words and conveyed greetings to President Yoon Seok-yeol.
During the meeting, the sides noted the high rates of development of mutually beneficial Turkmen-Korean cooperation in various fields. They stressed that the established open and trusting dialogue at the highest level is an important factor in the comprehensive strengthening of interstate relations.
President Berdimuhamedov mentioned the fruitful nature of the recent meeting with President Yun Seok-yeol at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly. During the meeting, a wide range of bilateral partnership issues were discussed and its promising directions were outlined.
The parties also noted the successful cooperation between their countries through international organizations and structures. In this regard, they emphasized the effectiveness of the Forum of Cooperation between the Central Asian States and the Republic of Korea.
In recent years, Turkmen-Korean relations through parliaments have also become regular. Mutual visits of speakers of the legislative bodies of the two countries are carried out, contributing to the effective exchange of experience and the expansion of working contacts between parliamentarians.
One of the priority vectors of interstate cooperation is the further strengthening of trade and economic partnership. A number of leading Korean companies have been working in the oil and gas and transport sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy for many years. The parties confirmed their desire to continue productive business cooperation.
The sides also stressed that the cultural and humanitarian sphere is an integral component of the Turkmen-Korean relations. In this context, they noted the successful functioning of the King Sejong Korean Language Learning Center in Turkmenistan. Korean is also taught at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. At the same time, Turkmen youth study at the universities of the Republic of Korea. ///nCa, 2 November 2023
