On 27 February, 2024 United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) took part in the Regional Meeting on Enhancing Women’s Participation in the Peacebuilding Processes in Ferghana Valley.
The Meeting was organized jointly by “For International Tolerance” Fund (Kyrgyzstan), “Istiqbolli Avlod” Socio-informational Centre (Uzbekistan), Scientific-technical Intelligence Association (Tajikistan), with a support of the United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund.
Participants of the meeting comprised civil society, women leaders, governmental authorities and international organizations, who exchanged views on the importance of women’s participation in peace processes and peacebuilding to achieve long-term peaceful results, finding common interests and opportunities for cooperation at national and regional levels to strengthen women’s participation in peace processes and peacebuilding, and setting an agenda for regional peacebuilding, taking into account national and regional contexts.
UNRCCA briefed the participants on its activities in the area of ‘Women, Peace and Security” Agenda, conflict prevention and preventive diplomacy, and informed about the Central Asian Women Leaders Caucus (CAWLC) initiative – the regional platform uniting prominent women leaders from all five Central Asian states.
