The meeting between the leadership of the Caspian Institute of Sea and River Transport named after General Admiral F. M. Apraksin and representatives of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan was devoted to the presentation of the capabilities of the Astrakhan Region for training personnel in the field of water transport.
The event, which was held via videoconference, was attended by the Minister of External Relations of the Astrakhan Region Vladimir Golovkov and the Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan Gadam Ilamanov.
Opening the negotiations, Vladimir Golovkov noted that in the multifaceted cooperation of the Astrakhan region with Turkmenistan, a special place is given to the field of education. Currently, about 1,700 students from the southern Caspian state are studying in our region. Moreover, according to the results of the 2023/2024 academic year, their number has increased by 50% compared to the previous one.
“Considering the fact that Turkmenistan has actively joined the work on developing the international transport corridor “North-South”, specialists in the field of sea and river transport will be in high demand in the near future,” the minister emphasized.
Director of KIMRT Olga Kartashova spoke in detail about the scientific and educational potential of the Astrakhan university.
“Our educational institution trains young specialists for water transport in Russia and the Caspian Sea basin countries, and also carries out work on training, retraining and advanced training of current crew members of ships,” she noted. “About 4 thousand cadets study at the faculties of secondary vocational and higher education, of which over 500 people are citizens of the Caspian countries. The KIMRT diploma gives our graduates the right to work under any flag and anywhere in the world.”
Acting Head of the Turkmenbashi Sea Port Seyitguly Baiseidov noted that among the employees of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan there are graduates of the Astrakhan Maritime Institute.
“Your university is the leading specialized educational institution in the entire Caspian region,” he said. “Considering the development of the trans-Caspian branch of the North-South corridor route, training specialists to work for the needs of the water transport industry is of great importance.”
He invited the leadership of KIMRT to take part in the international transport conference, which will be held in November in Ashgabat. /// nCa, 26 August 2024 (originally published by punkt-a.info)
