The Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Products of Afghanistan Hussein Badri and his delegation are visiting Turkmenistan.
A meeting of the board of directors of TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project) was held in Ashgabat on 29 August 2024. The key aspects of the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and prospects for the development of the fuel and energy complex (FEC) of Turkmenistan were discussed.
As reported by THP, this project is an important step in the implementation of Turkmenistan’s energy strategy aimed at modernizing the national fuel and energy complex, increasing its capacity and creating a new system for transporting energy resources to world markets. The TAPI project, which connects Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, plays a strategic role in expanding export opportunities and ensuring energy security in the region.
The meeting participants emphasized the importance of continuing active work on the project and implementing the planned measures for the successful completion of all stages of the gas pipeline construction.
The implementation of large investment projects in the gas sector of Turkmenistan is not only of economic importance, but also contributes to strengthening regional and global energy security. In addition, these projects play an important role in improving the socio-economic situation of the population, creating new jobs and stimulating economic growth in the regions through which energy infrastructures pass.
In another meeting, the Afghan delegation held talks on broader cooperation with Turkmenistan.
The dialogue covered a number of areas including in industry and energy. The delegation was presented with a wide range of opportunities that are opening up for both countries within the framework of the implementation of Turkmenistan’s socially oriented state policy.
The visit of the Afghan delegation emphasized the importance of harmonious development and modernization of the basic sector of the economy, especially in the fuel and energy complex. The main focus is on the development of modern technologies and the organization of effective work in this key area.
During the negotiations, specific plans for the implementation of joint projects aimed at expanding business ties and creating new opportunities for economic growth were discussed. An important place in the discussion was occupied by issues of construction of cultural, social and industrial facilities, as well as the development of modern industrial complexes.
The role of international transport corridors, which are becoming an important part of regional transport routes, was also emphasized.
