The State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan (Turkmenstat) has taken another significant step toward improving its statistical reporting system in line with the updated version of the System of National Accounts (SNA).
This accomplishment is the result of Turkmenstat’s collaborative work with various international partners, including the successful implementation of joint projects with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan. As part of this partnership, new methodologies were developed and implemented, covering state classifiers and key sectors such as finance, banking, insurance, science, and tourism. Methodologies for calculating the consumption of fixed assets have also been introduced, significantly strengthening the capacity of statistical system staff.
“UNDP welcomes the approval by the Government of Turkmenistan of the proposal to implement statistical reporting based on the updated version of the System of National Accounts and remains committed to continuing our productive partnership in building a comprehensive and modern statistical system in the country,” emphasized Narine Sahakyan, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan.///nCa, 21 January 2025 (in cooperation with UNDP Turkmenistan)
