In Ashgabat, The Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan held the culture events to introduce Ikebana, Sado and Kimono, which are Japanese traditional culture, with Ms. YAMADA Midori, who makes efforts in promote and spread Japanese traditional cultures in Russia and CIS, and Ms. DAVIDENKO Galina, who is her disciple and Russian leading expert on Japanese traditional cultures.
Ms. YAMADA has already visited Turkmenistan more than ten times and conducted various events to introduce Japanese cultures.
This time in 22nd February (Sat.) at the Institute of Azadi, “Ikebana workshop” was held and at University of Oguzhan “Sado and Kimono demonstration” was organized as well.
The following day, in 23 February (Sun.) “Kimono and Ikebana demonstration” was held in Berkarar shopping center, and many students of Japanese and local people came into with Japanese cultures.
Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art in which flowers and plants are specially arranged in a vase for appreciation. Sado is a Japanese traditional ceremony of serving and having a tea. Kimono is a Japanese traditional clothing and even nowadays people wear it in formal occasions such as wedding and graduation ceremony. /// Embassy of Japan, 24 Feb
